Town Hall prepares a business case for municipal wireless network covering the CBD and city fringe

clipped from
Auckland City Council is planning to deliver wireless internet access in the city centre and fringe through a new wi-fi network.
The council is developing a plan for what it describes as the “market led” establishment of an open access, outdoor wi-fi network in Auckland CBD and CBD Fringe as part of what it calls its “CBD into the future” strategy.
“In particular through this RFI process, the council intends to obtain information that will help it complete its business case for the WiFi project. A key element of the business case is to identify the extent to which respondents will require access to council infrastructure, the type of access required and other relevant conditions that the respondents consider necessary to make this wi-fi project a reality.”
